A Classic Approach

An Inexpensive Backdrop

Tammy captured these images in her clients’ home. When your clients are parents of a newborn or young child, working in the home can help to relieve some of the tension inherent in a portrait session such as travel, an unfamiliar location, etc. At home, the mood is relaxed and you have easy access to the family’s furnishings and wardrobes.

It is easy to create a studio look on location. For this session, Tammy arrived at the clients’ home equipped with a black polar fleece blanket. She didn’t even need to pack a backdrop stand for the shoot. She simply had the parent who wasn’t being photographed stand behind the baby and other parent and hold the blanket between spread arms. The look is an impressive, classic studio look, made with ease.

The viewer’s gaze is drawn to the subjects’ dark eyes—the darkest spot amidst the beautiful light skin tones.
